Collection of Watercolor Illustrations
Art IS 233
Fall 2024
Instructor: Amy Harris
This is a collection of various watercolor illustrations that I created during my time in this class.
The Natural World
The assignment was to create a painting that reflects our personal relationship with the natural world. While I've certainly had many experiences with nature, I can't help but feel a type of longing for the amount I've time I've spent indoors despite being surrounded by nature. This piece depicts that relationship in both my past on the left and my present on the right.
9 Panel Master Study
This assignment involved investigations into various artists' work. The artists I took inspiration from were Lisbeth Zwerger, Wayne Thiebaud, Andrew Wyeth, and Elaine De Kooning. The painting is a master study of a piece by Paulus Potter called "The Young Bull". I divided the piece into nine panels and applied the aforementioned artists' styles to these panels.
Bar Del Cappuccino
This is a still-life I created of a tradition I had with my friends when I visited Rome the semester prior to this one. The tradition in question involved visiting Bar Del Cappuccino in the morning and ordering a Cappuccino along with my signature Pastrami Sandwich order, which is the subject of my still life.
Color Harmonies
This series of pieces was created to familiarize myself with color mixing and working with color harmonies such as Double Complimentary, Analogous, and Triadic, respectively. I also tried playing with different types of perspective for the geometry.
